Job Description
This role is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, compliance with U.S. and Chinese regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support the company’s growth in the competitive medical device industry. The Financial Controller will collaborate with joint venture owners and stakeholders, bridging cultural and operational differences to maintain accurate reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

Principal Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
• Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Chinese Accounting Standards (CAS).
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting to joint venture partners.
• Manage cash flow, accounts payable/receivable, and treasury functions to optimize liquidity.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and variances to inform decision-making.
Budgeting & Forecasting
• Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with WOMA, Ortho Development, and Waston leadership.
• Analyze profitability of product lines (implants, instruments) and recommend pricing strategies.
• Partner with manufacturing and supply chain teams to improve margins. Provide cost analysis for production, raw materials, and supply chain operations.
Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with local Chinese tax laws, U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and other relevant regulations.
• Oversee internal and external audits.
• Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
Joint Venture Coordination
• Act as a financial liaison between WOMA, Ortho Development/JMDM and Waston companies, ensuring clear communication and alignment on financial objectives and plans.
• Address currency exchange (USD/CNY) challenges and manage foreign exchange risk.
• Support negotiations and financial structuring for joint venture agreements or expansions.
Team Leadership
• Manage and mentor a small finance team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and collaboration.
• Bridge cultural and operational differences between American and Chinese staff to ensure cohesive teamwork.
• Train staff on financial processes, ensuring adherence to both U.S. and Chinese standards.
Strategic Support
• Provide financial insights to support pricing strategies for domestic and imported orthopedic products.
• Assist in evaluating capital investments, such as new manufacturing equipment or facility upgrades.
• Contribute to long-term business planning in alignment with joint venture goals.
